It's hard to believe I've been a member of DA for over 10 years now!  I joined DA to have a place to link some fanart to a forum I used to frequent.  From there I moved to doing some Photoshop textures and icons I made for Livejournal.  Then I discovered fractal art.  I wouldn't know how to do fractal art at all if it weren't for the wonderful fractalists at DA and their great tutorials.

My first posting on DA, a digital drawing of my favorite X-Man Nightcrawler.  This was done with a mouse on Photoshop and not with a tablet, so I was pretty stoked for it being my first attempt at digital art.  There is a fanfiction that goes with this illustration that I posted to a forum but the forum did not have the capacity to post pictures directly, so I joined DA to have a place to post pictures to that I could also share with others.  Thus was my relationship with DA born.

From fanart I moved to doing icon textures for 100 x 100 icons that Livejournal allows.  I didn't do many of these because most of my friends at Livejournal disappeared... and I had also discovered fractal art.  :iconskellorg: was the person who introduced me to fractals.  While she has moved on to other things, I'm still here!

This was one of my first attempts at fractal art. There were several tutorials on DA for Apophysis, and I fairly quickly progressed from a simple fractal like this to more sophisticated and detailed work, thanks to tutorials, scripts and params that were posted by my friends in the fractal community.  You all rock!

In 2008 I added Ultra Fractal to my repertoire, and have progressed through tutorials and lots of experimentation.  What I consider to be my most difficult work was my attempt to make a realistic flower piece.  It is composed of over 70 layers, some of which were deep zooms.  It required so much memory that my laptop didn't want to save the whole thing so I had to start part of it over on my tower computer.  It took 12 hours to render on a computer that has 6 gigs of RAM.

I think my personal favorite artwork of mine is one that got it's inspiration from one of my favorite artists, Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night

At the moment I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to fractal art, but I'm hoping that will change in the near future.  I also got a graphic drawing tablet for my birthday so I'm hoping to add other kinds of digital art to my portfolio.
